Am I nervous? How do you feel?

Are you nervous?  How do you feel?  I was interviewed for a podcast yesterday and the host Chris Yates, asked me how I felt.  I guess I really didn’t think about it until then.

The past few days have been spent crossing my t’s and dotting my i’s.  I called 30 different vendors about switching information, had  numerous calls with the SBA bank, had calls with the seller, had calls with the my business bank when there issues with a piece of the financing (that was fun), and countless emails about other things.  Despite my attempt to get everything done in advance, there are always some last minute things.

It’s been almost 2 years since I left my restaurant company and while I have tried a few things, nothing has panned out.  So how do I feel?

I have this familiar feeling, I can’t fully describe it.  I have a calmness about me, not worried, not scared, and not nervous.  I have prepared and planned for this day for 6 months.  I have written up plans, vetted various marketing partners, read a lot about internet marketing and SEO, and brushed up on a few tech skills (although admittedly, not enough).  I have talked to so many people about what I am doing to get their perspective, I am making my soon-to-be wife nuts (sorry honey!).

The best way to describe how I feel the day before I make the largest investment of my life (times 10) is focused.  Absolute focus on what needs to be done in order to succeed.  I see what needs to be done and I am ready to do it.  I am ready for the sacrifice, learning, successes and failures.  I am ready to ask for help when I need it and go my own way when I see a different path.

The road I have taken since I left undergrad has taken me here.  I graduated with a degree in information science, did some sales, was a developer, led teams, went to business school (GO BLUE!), did some management consulting, worked for an olympic bid, started a national restaurant chain, and tried a bunch of things that didn’t work.

I have succeeded and failed.  I have screamed for joy and in sadness.  I have wanted to give up at times but never did because I truly believe that sticking with it will be what gets me through to the promised land.  

Today is the last day that I write a blog post solely with thoughts on what it means to be an internet entrepreneur.  Tomorrow @ 8am CST I sign the papers, transfer the money, and become one.
